We all deal with nasty headaches from time to time and taking too many painkillers can be concerning. Next time you’re feeling pain, go natural and try this headache rollerball recipe made with essential oils.

I thought I would share this essential oils rollerball recipe for headache relief today since so many of your really enjoyed my last little rollerball recipe to help with snoring. I’ve found this headache rollerball recipe works well for me, so try it out for yourself and see what you think!

Just like with snoring, frequent headaches can be a sign of something more serious, so definitely consult with your doctor if you have any concerns about how often you’re getting headaches. I’m not a doctor and the information in this post is strictly for informational and entertainment purposes.

Take Care of that Nagging Headache

Back when I used to work in a “real job” for other people I used to get headaches all the time. Almost daily. Thank goodness that I don’t get them that often anymore, but they do still pop up now and then for different reasons. Headaches can happen because of stress, hunger, dehydration, exhaustion, all kinds of things that most of us can run into on any given day. With all types of headaches, it’s best to deal with them just as soon as you notice them coming on, whether you tackle themnaturally with essential oils or with regular pain killers. I used to find myself taking pain killers a little too often for my liking, so I’m glad I’ve found something that really helps with my headaches that’s a little more natural, for those few times when I do still get them. Why take painkillers when you don’t have to?

Roller balls are great for essential oil application because they’re so convenient. You can easily throw one in your purse or keep it on your nightstand and you can apply it right away as soon as you notice a headache coming on. They allow you to already have your oils mixed with a neutral carrier oil to the right concentration and they allow you to apply the oils cleanly without any dripping. Basically, they’re the best. 🙂

When you purchase your roller balls, make sure you get the darker glass ones, usually amber/brown glass or blue, instead of the clear. You want to protect your sensitive essential oils from the light so you don’t compromise the integrity of the oils.

My Favorite Headache Rollerball Recipe

So here’s my favorite essential oil roller ball recipe for headache relief!

I like this recipe because it uses more common, less expensive oils than some of the other recipesthat I’ve seen and it still really helps to clear the pain and tension right out of my head.

Add all the essential oil drops to a clean, empty roller ball, then top it up with a neutral carrier oil. I always use fractionated coconut oil, which is basically a liquified coconut oil. To usethe oil, turn your roller ball up and down a few times and then use the roller ball to apply the oil to your temples, the back of your neck, your forehead, or anywhere that you feel tension and pain. Because this blend contains peppermint, it can feel a bit cool on your eyes, so try not to get too close to the eye area if you’re driving or doing something else that requires you to keep your eyes open. 🙂

Don’t forget to add a label to your roller ball bottle so you can remember what this blend is for. I clearly haven’t done that yet with this one. Oops!

Find Your Favorite

One of the really interesting things about essential oils is that sometimes different people can react differently to the same oil. With headache relief, there are some common ones that a lot of people find really helpful, but you may find an oilthat most people don’t mention that for some reason really works well for you. If you’re searching for the right combination of oils that will work for your headache rollerball recipe, here are a few less common ones to try that may just do the trick!

Lemongrass essential oil (boosts energy and relieves muscle pain)

Roman Chamomile essential oil (relaxing and anti-inflammatory)

Marjoram Essential Oil (relieves anxiety and tension)

Ginger Essential Oil (anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea)
