Independent Living Reviews for Holiday Willow Park

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have moved into Willow Park. I have chosen it because of the amenities that it provides within the rent or payment that you pay. On the issue of affordability, it was cheaper than anything else I saw, and yet it has all of the things that I needed and wanted. So, I decided that I would stay here. It's very well-kept. I cannot see any examples of where they've chosen to go the cheap route in order to do something. For example, all the doors are solid core, there are no pasteboard doors, the way I call them. There are plenty of outlets in the apartment. The entire building is very well landscaped and decorated. It gives a very good, curb appeal kind of feeling when somebody drives up. It makes me proud to be able to say I live here. It's a nice and impressive looking building. It's very well-maintained.The staff is wonderful. I've met the chef, and she used to work in a resort my husband and I went to. I remember how pleased I was with the menus, and the quality of the food that they pulled out. I realized after a matter that I recognized that when I came here. I didn't realize that he was from that place, but I recognize that sort of signature of hers. We get very well-balanced meals. The only complaint I have had is the fact that the van that they take you to doctors' appointments with, they don't have one with a hydraulic lift on it, and I am in a power chair. So, that makes it very difficult for me. However, they do have a new van on orders, so that will get here someday soon. I think they're doing the very best that they can under the circ*mstances. I'm not an activity kind of person, I'm just going into bingo every day, because then I have other projects that I'm working on myself. From what I've seen on the public list of activities, they have a very well-rounded program. If I were in need of some place to go and something to do, I don't think I'd have any trouble finding a spot for myself.Based on my comparisons with other places, on what they offered and what they were requiring as far as price, I think this is the best bang for my buck I could possibly have found.

I liked Willow Park myself. I could go there. The staff was very nice and very knowledgeable. I liked the layout of it. I might have claustrophobia in the room, but I could do it. It's got a window. I could have a loveseat and a bed and all that stuff, and I wouldn't be sitting in there anyway. I'd be out some place else walking around. It would be OK. I would like to have a one-bedroom, but I don't think my budget would do it, so I would stay in a studio. I was very comfortable there. I didn't see the food, but the menu was good. It seemed pretty healthy to me. It was good enough for me. It was clean there and that surprised me. I was expecting something different, but it was clean and that's a good thing. It wasn't extremely fancy, but it was clean.

My mother has moved into Willow Park. It is nice and clean. The staff is excellent. They greeted us before we were there for our tour. The lady that assisted me was very informative. Also, she was familiar with a lot of people that my mother actually knew, so it made it feel warm, and it was as if Mother was back home again. They're all friendly and very eager to help. Michelle, the activity coordinator, is very helpful. I met with Kim, and I filled out the application. She also showed us the apartments my mother could choose from, and what was available. She was polite in asking some of the tenants to be able to see their layout inside. Of course, we were strangers to those people, but they were very helpful and accommodating. I really liked that approach, that Kim had a very personal relationship with the community of people. My mother's apartment is like an alcove studio. It's very nice. They have a balcony, so Mother is able to sit outside. Of course, I like the fact that Mother could go three times a day to get a full meal sit down dining. They do offer the services. If you're unable to attend those set times, you could also dine in your room. I did eat there as a guest with my mother, and the food was very nice. They have a facility there if the residents would like physical therapy. I like that they offer onsite the opportunity for Mother to be able to have better mobility that is available. They also provide a list of senior care or senior living, which has a phone numbers and resources for sitters and caregivers at many different levels that you can choose from. The dining area is very large and roomy. It's basically formal dining. The facility is clean, and it has a friendly atmosphere. It has a welcoming atmosphere. They provide transportation. They have a van. If the residents would like to go doctors or shopping or whatever, they provide a van service for that. You just pick up the phone, tell them you want to use the van for whatever your needs are, and they schedule it in for you. They are providing service for the residents for whatever they need.

We went to Willow Park. I loved it. The staff was great. They were absolutely wonderful. In fact, they invited my aunt to come stay in a guest suite free of charge for three nights. I think it was too independent for her. I think she is a little more comfortable with assisted living. There was nothing wrong with the facility. She loved the facility. The food wasn't very good, but they just had a new chef that day. Willow Park was wonderful, it was great. Everybody else seemed very happy. It's full, and they only had a couple of vacancies. They had a lovely library, a wonderful library. They give them a pendant to wear, like an alert thing, and everybody has that. So if they're on site or off site and they need assistance, they hit that, and they come right for them. They have a home health agency that is housed there, and they have a physical therapy agency that is housed there. So those services are all a la carte, that's why they can keep their costs down a little bit, because they don't pay all the nursing people. It's just a regular, apartment situation.

My sister is at Willow Park in Evansville, and it's working out fine. They serve her three meals a day and she thinks they're really friendly. Both the residents and the people that work there are friendly. She's got a studio room and got one that doesn't have a carpet, which really works best for her because she is in a wheelchair. She's got a balcony, we bought her a chair, and she uses a walker, so he can step out on the balcony. Not everybody's got a good view, but her view is really nice. I've eaten there and the food is good too. It's independent living but they have a third-party physical therapist, and my sister may start getting physical therapy with the third-party that they're in. It's in-house but third party. They have a nice, big activity room, and I know they have bingo. I've seen their arts and crafts rooms too. I know that one time they had somebody sing while they were eating. They also had an Elvis impersonator. I think they have other activities, and my sister goes to them all. They have movies too, and they have different things throughout the day. When you sit down at the dining table, there's a table covering, and they serve their meals. They have a little menu, they come to your table, and they ask you what you want to drink. You can have lemonade or tea, and they have a pitcher of water in the middle of the table for every table. They serve the food in courses. They have salad or soup, or they'll ask the residents if they want that. When it's time for the entree, they'll bring that, and then they ask you if they want the dessert. It's kind of like a restaurant that way.

My niece has moved into Willow Park, and I think she enjoys it. Everybody's been friendly, and the staff has been very helpful to her. I think her room is very pleasant. It has a nice view, and it's a very short distance from where she goes to eat. It's a good thing, too, because she's having a little bit of a mobility problem. It's good that she doesn’t have to go too far. It's on the same floor as the dining area. It is independent living, they provide three meals a day, and there are activities. There are also church services. It's a lot different from living totally by yourself in an isolated house. I don't know what activities she has participated in. She's only been there since last Friday, so it's just her fifth day there. They have bingo and crafts -- and she loves crafts -- so she's going to get involved for sure. They have some other games too. They have a daily menu that shows the different options for their meals, and they have their activities listed on there too. They really are doing a good job. I've been very pleased with everything. I've eaten one meal there and it looks nice enough. That was a complimentary meal that they gave me, which I would be more than willing to pay for, but since I was helping her move in, they were nice enough to offer it. It's really sweet. They could have done things a lot differently than they did, and I am overjoyed with the help that they provided. They hooked up her television today. It's like they give you a lot of services. I haven't seen the activities yet, but when they showed my niece and me around, there were a bunch of people participating in a variety of activities. They have activities down on the first floor; the dining area and everything else are up on the second floor, which I think is the largest floor. This one was financially affordable, whereas a lot of the others basically priced us out of the market. It's not unusual at all for these prices to run from $3000 to $4000 a month, which not everybody can afford, especially not for years and years.

Willow Park was very nice, very clean, and roomy for an individual. It would've been a nice fit, but it's not in my mother's budget. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They had a library and a television area. The dining area was nice.

I'm moving into Willow Park. It had all the things that I needed, it just had everything. The staff was very attentive to my needs and answered my questions. They are very friendly and very nice. They interacted well with the residents as they were walking through the area. The apartments were very nice. No complaints. The one thing I like most is that they provide a linen service and cleaning services. That's something I have a problem with is being able to run a vacuum cleaner. They clean the apartment and change the linens once a week, and I really like that a lot, as well as the meal service.

Willow Park is a 120-unit facility. They offer 3 meals a day. They have a beauty shop on-site, and it has a physical therapy room on site. There is no nurse on staff, but they have assistance if you need it.They have individual patios for each apartment unit. The 1-bedroom apartments that they have are a nice size. They have a living room, a small kitchen space, and they're about $2,000 less a month than the other ones we looked at.It is an older place. It was not fancy as the others. From a utility standpoint and what you will be able to do there, it's very nice.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I went to Willow Park to visit some of my friends. I've been there when they had activities, and it was fun. They have as many activities available as the other facilities that I know. The only reason I would not rate them as high is that you can't stay there for the rest of your life, unless you die of another cause. It only has independent living. They play bingo sometimes, and they'll also have speakers. I have eaten there once, and I had a great meal. I know that my friend who lives there is extremely happy with it, too. The facility looked smaller. When you drive in, you just drive down an incline into a very short little parking area. If you're older and you need to sit down outside, you'd like some place that's pretty looking. At Willow Park, you're seeing other buildings, so the scenery is not that great when you look out the window.

The one-bedroom apartment at Willow Park was too small, and my parents didn't care for it. They have a nice, big dining area and a lot of activities planned. They have several different floor plans that are nice, and they have two-bedroom apartments. The staff member was nice, and they provided excellent service. It's a very clean place.

Kim was extremely friendly and helpful. She was so willing to work with us. The facility was older, but kept up well. The residents we interacted with were friendly and kind. Dad is just not quite to the point of needing this level of care yet. We will keep it in mind though when he is!

Willow Park's staff was very nice, informative, friendly, down-to-earth, and explained things in great detail. It was a nice area and I felt comfortable. The place is very clean and neat. I can keep my car there which is nice, and it's close to a lot of shopping centers. The rooms were very nice, and the apartment they took me to has been recently vacated, and painted. The room sizes were great. It was on the ground floor which I liked since I had a walker. The dining area was lovely and the food was very good.

Willow Park is in a very good location. The staff is great and always trying to help. Everyone that I have come in contact with has been very good and go above and beyond. The pricing is good, and you have many options to choose from, but having a mature staff would help because not everyone understands the elderly and their needs. The food is OK, and they have their own bus.

Mother moved into Willow Park 3 months ago, the food was adequate, it was decent, and it was more of a home-cooked meal. It was very reasonable. It's independent living, but you can hire senior helpers. The family would have to take the residents to their doctors unless someone would come in for therapy. I thought the 1-bedroom was very nice.

Willow Park was nice and closer to a lot of the places where my parents do their business, but they didn’t like it. They were not as comfortable there. The staff didn’t seem as friendly when we went to visit and didn’t talk to our parents as much as they talked to us, which should not be the case because they are the ones who will live there, not us. The dining room, food, and room they showed us were very nice.

Willow Park was a relaxed environment, and it was clean. The staff and even the housekeepers interacted. The residents looked happy. They had activities, and the people were participating. They had dance. The manager who took me around was good in explaining everything to me as well as the program director. The staff were naturally kind. The rooms were spacious with a lot of closet space and were wheelchair accessible. Nobody regulates their food. You have to know your own diet.

The rooms at Willow Park are very small, but they are nice. It is more of a place for people who need assisted living. Everybody is happy. They have a little chapel in there. They have three floors. They invited us for dinner, the chef comes around to your table and deliver your orders, and it is always so good. They have a bus that takes them around to activities.

The staff of Willow Park was nice. The rooms were small. You just have one room for your bedroom and living room. I like to do yoga, and I need a yoga mat somewhere. They gave me a meal during the tour, and the food was good. I like the people. I like the layout. I like the amount of activities. I think the thing about it was just the size of the apartments.

I thought Willow Park was really nice, but we could not afford it. I’d feel like I could move in here tomorrow, and my husband said fine. They have five or six activities people can join in everyday if they want to. They have three beauticians there, the laundry is right there -- you can do your own -- and it’s free. They have four or five different choices at every meal. You could choose what you wanted, and the food was very good. It’s really a nice place. They had like a walking race, and they would encourage you to walk down the hall with your walker and come back and whoever made it first for whatever they got. They have a variety of things for people in different levels of help. They serve meals three times a day, and they also have extra snacks foods and things available. They do have popcorn every afternoon.I like that the managers are fulltime and they live there, and I think he said the assistant manager did too so if something falls apart or they are having trouble, somebody is there right away, and they answered everything I asked.

I am/was a resident of this facility

We did live at Willow Park. It was supposed to be independent living, but some of the people that came in were not that independent. They had a car port you could rent for $20 a month, so you could keep your car out of the elements. They had a recreation room. They played bingo and had games. The staff at Willow Park was good; they were good to us. It was just the rent was too high. Willow Park was really good, but they had some people that shouldn't have really been in there because they were really ill.
